The Water of Life Project was born in the heart of God with a very well-defined mission: to preach the gospel of salvation through a clear analogy: showing what the Spirit of God can do in the life of a person who gives himself to Him, practically illustrated by irrigation that provides basic food needs for family survival.

This mission is possible because it is founded on the belief that we are channels of God for lessening the suffering of the people who are plagued by drought in the Northeastern region of Brazil. It seeks to be a living instrument of God’s love, as set forth in Matthew 25:34-36: “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.”

The reason for choosing to develop this project in the Northeast of Brazil is justified by the fact that this region has a semi-arid climate, characterized by long periods of drought, with occasional rains concentrated in just a few months of the year. The temperatures are high all year long, around 95-100 degrees Fahrenheit. The most common vegetation in the region is sagebrush.

Besides its climatic characteristics, the region is also characterized by religious devotion to Catholic saints and patron/matron saints. This affects the people of the region spiritually, blinding them to the understanding of true salvation in Jesus alone. Through this project, the Church will demonstrate love by offering them an easier temporal life because of the wells, and this will certainly be a powerful tool for the conversion of these people to the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thus it is evident that these people’s perspective of life needs to change. And this will only be possible through the manifestation of life through the gospel of Jesus Christ, through practical actions that bring about a change in their expectations.

The Water of Life Project is a means of reaching lives for Jesus, using the allegory of well water and the Water of Life, which is Jesus.

The intent of the Project is to drill wells on the property of the local church in order to provide an easily accessible source of clean water for multiple purposes: drinking, cooking, bathing, washing clothes, etc.

As the wells will be located on church property, the gospel of salvation will be presented there, offering freedom from the power of idolatry, which is so prevalent in drought-stricken regions.

Partnerships will represent a common effort in evangelism and in the planting of new churches in the region. According to the vision churches partnership will provide resources necessary for the drilling of the wells and the building of the temple, which will house the local church project.

It will be the responsibility of Agape Baptist Church to provide the conditions necessary for the implementation of the venture, to monitor the project once implemented, and to guarantee the continued well-being of the newly established church. As part of this vision, biannual reports on the work will be sent, so that churches can be involved in the prayer, and also share the fruits of the conversions resulting from obedience to this heavenly vision.
